Is there anything more beautiful than the birth of a child? At this moment, a new life emerges from the love of two people, definitively and visible to all. Unfortunately, the birth itself is sometimes very painful for the mother and can drag on for several hours, but as soon as the baby is in your arms, all the hardships and pains are forgotten for a moment.
This moment must then be savored to the maximum so that it remains long in the memories. Because it is not uncommon for the weeks that follow to be a major challenge for new parents and not easy to manage. In the following, we would therefore like to give you some practical tips so that this period is new, but still wonderful for you.
Plan the most important things BEFORE the birth
The first hours and the first days after the arrival of the mother and the baby at home are already very important, but too often neglected.
As a couple, you should get the most important equipment for the child well before the date of birth and also pay attention to a few planning elements.
The basic equipment should certainly include an extra bed. An extra bed that has been tested for harmful substances is probably one of the healthiest ways for a baby to sleep. This can be attached to the parents’ bed and later, depending on the model, even used for other functions.
Being close to you as a parent is important, but the baby should not only sleep in the bed with you, but should always have their own cot. In addition, a possibility of changing diapers, baby powder and nappies should not be missing. A pair of rompers, a stroller or a stretcher complete the basic equipment (this is part of the baby’s initial equipment).
Otherwise, the man should definitely take care of a smooth process. For example, the return home should not be chaotic, but well organized and the mother should always be accompanied the first few days if necessary. Friends and family are welcome to help, but should also take a back seat if the new mom wishes.
Learning by doing
Relieve the pressure of having to or wanting to be perfect. Even as a parent, you are still normal people who cannot work miracles overnight. If the budget is a little short, or if an appointment cannot be respected, that’s how it is. The most important thing is that your baby is well cared for and cared for around the clock and that you don’t overdo it. Distribute new tasks fairly.
Even as a man, you can get up at night and change the baby’s diaper or rock him to sleep. In general, men are responsible after childbirth. The mother should have as few other tasks as possible so that she can concentrate on the child and still have time for herself. Don’t panic about things you’ve read or seen elsewhere. Many tasks are completely new and should not work perfectly right away. Stay relaxed and enjoy the time together!
